背面描述 Central field bearing a two-line Arabic Nasta'liq inscription in high relief, identifying the mint and regnal year, set against an elaborately engraved background of floral sprays, leafy branches, and scattered rosettes. The legend occupies both registers of the flan, with the mint name and epithet in the upper line and the AH date 1255 in the lower. A prominent inner beaded border encircles the central inscription, separating it from an outer decorative zone of additional floral and foliate ornament that extends to the rim. The beaded border is well defined and consistent, a hallmark of Type D Astarabad mint issues. The die engraving displays the characteristic regional style of the Astarabad workshop under Mohammad Shah Qajar.

附加信息

The Asterābād mint — situated on the southeastern edge of the Caspian littoral — was one of several provincial mints operating under loose central oversight during Mohammad Shah's reign. Qajar minting practice of this period was notoriously inconsistent, with provincial dies cut locally, accounting for the typological variants catalogued under this issue. The "Type D" designation reflects die differences documented by researchers rather than any deliberate royal directive.

Asterābād's output was modest, and survivors from this mint see far less frequency in the market than Tehran or Tabriz strikes of the same reign.
