Issued as part of Egypt's long-running Islamic Architecture gold series, this piece commemorates Al-Masjid an-Nabawi in Medina — a site under Saudi administration, which made Egyptian state coinage honoring it a minor but deliberate gesture of pan-Islamic solidarity during a period when Egypt was still diplomatically isolated following the Camp David Accords.
