Obverse description Central field bears the Arabic denomination 'جنيه واحد' (One Pound) in two lines, with the Hijri date ١٤٠٣ to the right and the Gregorian date ١٩٨٣ to the left, the two dates flanking the denomination. The name of the issuing authority, the Central Bank of Egypt, is inscribed in Arabic script across the upper field. A decorative floral arabesque ornament occupies the lower portion of the field, and the entire design is enclosed within a toothed inner border.
