Additional information

Issued to mark the 900th anniversary of the Norman Conquest's administrative legacy in Jersey — the island having passed to the English crown in 1066 and retained its distinct constitutional relationship with the Crown ever since. Jersey is not part of the United Kingdom, and its pound, while pegged to sterling, is issued under separate authority, which gives these commemorative gold issues an unusual dual character: legally local currency, practically collector objects from the moment of striking.
