St. Saviour is the parish of Jersey's largest town, St. Helier, and has historically been among the most populous of the island's twelve parishes — each of which received its own pound coin design in this 1984 series. The gold proof versions were struck in extremely limited numbers for collectors, issued through the States of Jersey alongside silver and base metal counterparts.
The .917 fineness places this coin at traditional sovereign gold standard.
