| Additional information |
St. Martin is one of Jersey's twelve ancient parishes, each of which received its own dedicated pound coin in this 1987 proof series — a deliberate nod to the island's pre-Norman administrative divisions that have survived largely intact since the eleventh century. Jersey issued the series in sterling silver specifically for collectors, as the base-metal circulation versions had already entered commerce the same year.
KM#71a distinguishes the silver proof from the standard cupro-nickel KM#71.
