Jersey's one pound coin was introduced in 1983 as part of a broader shift across the British Isles away from the large, heavy pre-decimal coinage toward a more practical thick-edged round pound. The island's issues are struck under the authority of the States of Jersey rather than the Royal Mint, though production was contracted to the Royal Mint throughout this period. KM#87 had a relatively long run across multiple years, and 1992 specimens are not considered scarce by any measure.
