| Beschrijving voorzijde | Right-facing diademed and draped bust effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, after the portrait model by Arnold Machin, occupying the central field. The legend QUEEN ELIZABETH THE SECOND arcs along the upper periphery from left to right, with the date 1993 positioned centrally at the base. The design is framed by a continuous beaded border, consistent with Jersey coinage of this period. |

Jersey's 1993 pound series celebrated the island's maritime heritage at a moment when the States were leaning hard into commemorative coinage as a revenue stream — a practice that accelerated sharply after decimalisation in 1971 freed the island from strict parity obligations with UK coinage types. The brigantine, a working rig common in Channel Island trading routes through the 18th and 19th centuries, carried Jersey merchants to Newfoundland cod banks and Iberian ports for generations.
KM#90 is one of several designs issued that year within the same pound format, which limits individual mintage pressure on any single type.
