Aanvullende informatie

The "Corrective Revolution" designation refers to Anwar Sadat's internal coup of May 1971, in which he purged the Nasserist left-wing faction — the so-called "Centers of Power" — from the Egyptian government and consolidated his own authority. This coin, struck nearly a decade after that event, was part of Egypt's broader series commemorating milestones of the post-1952 republic. Sadat used such anniversaries aggressively for domestic legitimization, particularly as his peace overtures toward Israel were fracturing his standing in the Arab world.

By 1980, Egyptian commemorative silver was being struck in relatively modest quantities aimed largely at collector markets rather than circulation.
