Reverse description A stylized Royal British Legion poppy rendered in high relief occupies the silver center field, its four rounded petals radiating outward from a central seed capsule boss, with fine radial line detailing across the petals evoking the emblematic Flanders poppy. The gold-plated outer ring bears the commemorative legend in raised capital letters along the upper arc and the denomination along the lower arc, separated by raised dot stops. The bimetallic composition creates a strong visual contrast between the silver center and the gold-toned ring, enhancing the commemorative impact of the design.

Additional information

Issued by Jersey to mark the centenary of the Royal British Legion's poppy appeal, which was formalized in 1921 after American activist Moina Michael first proposed the red poppy as a symbol of remembrance following the publication of John McCrae's "In Flanders Fields." The RBL adopted it almost immediately, with Frenchwoman Anna Guérin organizing the first mass sale in Britain that same year.

The bimetallic construction — .925 silver core set within a gold-plated .925 silver ring — is a technical elaboration unusual for a one-pound denomination from this issuer.
