Comments

The British Linen Bank — originally chartered in 1746 as a linen industry financing vehicle — had long since abandoned any connection to textiles by the time this series was issued, functioning as a conventional commercial bank absorbed into the Bank of Scotland group in 1969, just after this series ended. The Walker-signed notes from 1963 onward are the more frequently encountered examples, but the 1962 Anderson signature represents a brief window before Walker took over as general manager.

The sorting-mark distinction separating this Pick from P-168 is a back-printing variation, not a signature or date difference — the 13.06.1967 date exists under both references, making date alone an unreliable identifier.
