Beschrijving voorzijde A high-relief depiction of a Bald Eagle displayed with wings spread wide, head turned to the left, clutching a bundle of arrows in its talons. The Alderney coat of arms, featuring a lion rampant within a circular shield inscribed ALDERNEY, is prominently positioned above the eagle in the upper field, with a five-pointed star at the apex. The surrounding legend along the lower rim reads '1 OUNCE' to the left, '999 FINE SILVER' at the base, and '1 POUND' to the right, set against a deeply mirrored proof field.

Aanvullende informatie

Alderney, the smallest of the three main Channel Islands with autonomous coinage rights, has issued commemorative legal tender through the Royal Mint and other facilities since 1989. The island's actual circulating currency is the pound sterling — these silver issues are fiscal instruments in name only, produced entirely for the collector market under license from the Crown Dependency government.

The bald eagle has appeared on American coinage since 1794.
