Obverse description Papal tiara depicted in the upper field, rendered in a simplified hammered style characteristic of 15th-century Roman coinage. Below the tiara, a rudimentary papal bust or regalia device occupies the central field, heavily worn and struck on an irregular flan. The circumferential Latin legend PAVLVS PAPA II runs around the periphery, partially legible due to the crudeness of the strike and subsequent wear. The overall engraving is typical of the low-denomination picciolo coinage of Pope Paul II (Pietro Barbo, r. 1464–1471), produced at the Rome Mint using hand-hammered techniques.
