Obverse description Central field features a single shield bearing the cross-hatched (lozengy) device of the Livonian Order, divided vertically by a plain pale. The shield is depicted in a plain, Gothic style typical of late medieval Livonian pfennig coinage. Small circular or pellet ornaments appear in the quarters surrounding the shield. The flan is irregular and the relief is low, consistent with hammered billon coinage of the period. No legend appears on this face.
