| Obverse description | Central field dominated by a rampant lion passant, rendered in the crude relief typical of early 16th-century Baltic billon coinage. The lion is depicted facing left, with a crown above its head, conveying the heraldic arms of the Bishopric of Dorpat. The design is executed in a primitive, stylised manner consistent with hammered small denomination coinage of the region. A partial legend in uncial Latin characters runs along the lower periphery of the flan, partially obscured by the irregular planchet edge. The overall striking is uneven, characteristic of the sede vacante emergency issue of 1515. |
