Albrecht III ruled the Duchy of Austria from 1365 until his death in 1395, a period marked by persistent monetary debasement across the Habsburg lands. The small silver pfennig issues of this reign were struck at Vienna and are associated with a sustained depreciation in fineness — the "silver" content by the later years of issue was often little more than a billon approaching copper. CNA B 265 sits within a long sequence of Viennese pfennigs whose attribution to specific regnal years within the thirty-year span remains difficult without hoard provenance.
