| 裏面の説明 | Reverse is entirely plain and unadorned, exhibiting only the flat struck surface with no devices, legends, or decorative elements. The central hole is present as on the obverse. The surface shows the characteristic rough finish typical of hastily produced municipal emergency coinage of the Spanish Civil War period. |

Gratallops is a tiny wine-producing village in the Priorat comarca of Catalonia, with a population that barely exceeded a few hundred during the 1930s. Like dozens of small Republican municipalities during the Civil War, it issued its own emergency coinage in 1937 after the Nationalist blockade and hoarding drained conventional currency from circulation entirely. Iron was the material of necessity — copper and other non-ferrous metals had been requisitioned for the war effort.
KM#5 places this among multiple denominations issued by the same municipality, suggesting a surprisingly complete local monetary system for a village of its size.
