| Beschrijving voorzijde | Facing crowned bust of the king within a beaded inner circle, the crown adorned with typically seven pearls and flanked by chin and side whiskers rendered as small curls. A sceptre extends to the left of the effigy. The portrait appears in either large- or small-faced varieties depending on the die. The legend HENRICVS REX runs around the periphery in Lombardic lettering, invoking the name of Henry II under whose type coinage continued to be struck throughout the reign of Richard I. |
