Obverse description Crude facing bust of King Henry II, depicted wearing a crown with ornate fleurs, rendered in the bold, somewhat stylised manner characteristic of early Angevin hammered coinage. The king's face is presented frontally with schematic features, sceptre visible to one side. A beaded inner circle frames the bust, with the royal legend surrounding the effigy in the outer field. The overall design reflects the broad, flat flan and irregular striking typical of the Tealby coinage series.
