Håkon V moved the Norwegian capital from Bergen to Oslo in 1299, the same year his reign began, and his coinage reflects a court in administrative transition. The penning issues attributed to his reign are among the last Norwegian bracteates struck in silver before the denomination effectively collapsed from debasement under his successors.
Skaare 256 is a rare attribution — surviving examples are few, and many are poorly preserved due to the fragility inherent to thin bracteate flans.
