| Obverse description | Within a beaded inner circle, the Gothic initial 'G' for Gustavus surmounted by a royal crown, flanked on either side by seven-pointed stars in the field. A Latin circular legend runs outside the beaded border, reading GOSTA + REX + SWECIE, identifying the issuer as Gustav, King of Sweden. The lettering is rendered in Gothic script typical of early sixteenth-century Swedish coinage. The overall style is characteristic of the late medieval hammered tradition, with irregular flan shape and slightly uneven strike. |
