| Obverse description | Bare-headed, bearded effigy of King Oscar II facing left, rendered in high relief with finely detailed curly hair and full beard, engraved by Lea Ahlborn. The engraver's initials 'L.A.' appear below the truncation of the neck. The circular legend reads 'OSCAR II SVERIGES NORR. G. O. V. KONUNG.' (Oscar II, King of Sweden, Norway, the Goths and the Wends), disposed around the periphery in raised Latin lettering. The field is smooth and unadorned, allowing the portrait to dominate the composition. |
