Additional information

Pattern strikes for Oscar I's proposed öre redesign were produced across at least four documented type variations in 1853–54, as the Swedish mint worked through competing design and module proposals before settling on a production type. Type IV is among the least frequently encountered of these trial pieces, reflecting how quickly the approval process moved once a direction was chosen — rejected types were simply not struck in quantity.
