| 裏面の説明 | A fully rendered Asian elephant occupies the central field, depicted in profile with naturalistic detail typical of mid-century engraving. Above the elephant, a two-line legend specifies the coin's weight in troy ounces and grains, followed by the silver fineness. Below and to the right, the weight in grams is inscribed, providing comprehensive metrological data integral to this pattern's design as a proposed silver bullion standard. |

The 1951 Elefante pattern was part of Mexico's internal evaluation of a potential silver bullion onza series — a project that never reached commercial production. The Casa de Moneda struck several distinct pattern types that year under different design approaches, each catalogued separately, none adopted. Why the elephant motif was submitted or by whom remains undocumented in the published record.
Surviving examples are exceedingly few; pattern status means mintage was almost certainly in the single or low double digits.
