Obverse description Within a beaded circle, a heraldic shield bearing a ship device is positioned over a long-armed cross. The cross arms extend to the beaded border, dividing the outer legend into four segments. The inscription, rendered in Latin uncial characters, reads KAROLI REX S°G, identifying Karl as King of Sweden and the Goths. The design is executed in the characteristic medieval hammered style with irregular flan edges typical of 15th-century Swedish coinage.
