Obverse description Left-facing draped and crowned bust of Queen Victoria as Empress, wearing the small imperial state crown and an ornately decorated bodice with foliate detailing, a pearl necklace visible at the throat. The effigy is rendered in high relief with fine portrait detail in the style established by William Wyon. The circular legend VICTORIA EMPRESS runs along the periphery, divided by the portrait, with VICTORIA to the left and EMPRESS to the right. The field is plain and the entire design is enclosed within a finely beaded border.
