Obverse description Left-facing crowned effigy of Queen Victoria, depicted as a mature bust wearing the Imperial State Crown and an elaborately embroidered, floral-patterned robe or mantle visible at the truncation. The queen's hair is dressed in curled ringlets beneath the crown, and a string of pearls is visible at the neck. The portrait, engraved by William Wyon, fills the majority of the field and is rendered in high relief with exceptional detail, consistent with proof striking. The circumferential legend reads VICTORIA QUEEN, with the word VICTORIA ascending on the left and QUEEN descending on the right, separated by the portrait, all within a fine beaded border.

Obverse lettering VICTORIA QUEEN
Reverse description The central field bears the denomination and issuing authority inscribed in three lines of bold serif lettering: ONE / MOHUR / INDIA, separated by a horizontal rule between MOHUR and INDIA, with the date 1870 below. The central inscription is framed by an ornate continuous border of interlaced geometric and foliate designs composed of triangular knotwork and acanthus scrollwork, evoking Indo-Saracenic decorative motifs. An inner beaded border separates this decorative frame from the raised outer rim, which is likewise beaded. The overall reverse design is exceptionally crisp and deeply struck, consistent with proof quality.
