Obverse description Bare-headed, draped bust of Queen Victoria facing left, engraved in the young portrait style by William Wyon, occupying the central field. The hair is elaborately dressed and drawn back into a chignon, rendered with fine detail. The circular legend VICTORIA QUEEN is inscribed along the upper periphery, with the date 1841. placed in the lower exergue. The design is enclosed by a continuous toothed border.

Reverse description A Bengal lion passant, with full mane, is depicted in the central field walking to the left atop a ground line, with a palm tree rising behind it. The circumferential legend EAST INDIA COMPANY arcs around the upper portion of the field. Below the ground line, the denomination ONE MOHUR is inscribed in Latin characters, followed beneath by the Persian legend يک اشرفی (One Ashrafi). The whole design is enclosed by a toothed border.
