| Obverse description | The obverse field is dominated by a two-line Persian legend in bold Nastaliq script, divided horizontally by a raised line. The upper register bears the royal name and title 'Shah Jahan Badshah' while the lower register carries the honorific epithet 'Ghazi' (Warrior of the Faith). The legends are embellished with decorative dot ornaments flanking the text, a characteristic feature of Mughal hammered coinage. The flan is irregular and slightly convex, with the design struck in high relief typical of late Mughal gold mohurs produced at the Surat mint. |
