| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central device features the Gemini zodiac sign (Jawzā), depicted as two conjoined male figures in high sculptural relief, facing one another in an embrace with their right legs raised — a motif characteristic of Jahangir's celebrated zodiac coinage series. The figures are rendered with bold, confident artistry typical of early seventeenth-century Mughal die-cutting. The central figural group is encircled by a ring of radiating sun rays forming an inner border, beyond which a beaded outer border defines the coin's circumference. A multi-line Persian legend in Nasta'liq script occupies the field surrounding the central device, recording the mint name Ajmer and identifying the coin as gold of the realm of Jahangir Shah, son of Shah Akbar. |
