Obverse description Central device depicts the standing figure of Wolter von Plettenberg, Grand Master of the Livonian Order, shown in three-quarter view facing right, wearing the Order's mantle over armor and holding a large quartered shield bearing the Livonian Order's cross. The figure is rendered in a Gothic heraldic style typical of early 16th-century Baltic coinage. A circular Gothic uncial legend surrounds the central device, divided across the upper and lower fields. A small cross pattée appears at the top of the legend as a separating mark.
