| Obverse description | Enthroned effigy of Saint Olav facing forward, crowned and robed, depicted treading upon a crowned dragon beneath his feet, rendered in the medieval hammered style. The central device is enclosed within an inner beaded ring, with the Latin legend disposed in the annular field between the inner and outer beaded rings along the rim. The design reflects the traditional iconography of the royal martyr-king as patron saint of Norway. |
