| Additional information |
Issued to mark Estonia's VII Laulupidu, the national song festival held in Tallinn in June 1933, this coin appeared during a period of acute political instability — just months before Konstantin Päts suspended parliament and assumed emergency powers in March 1934. The festival itself carried outsized national significance; song gatherings had functioned as vehicles for Estonian cultural identity since the first Laulupidu in 1869, well before independence was achieved.
The .500 fineness is notably low for a commemorative, reflecting the fiscal constraints of the Depression years on the young republic's mint budget.
