Below the shield rests a small ornamental lined cross. The shield is encircled by the collar and pendant of the Order of the Elephant, Denmark's highest order of chivalry, with the collar tied to the shield's border. A Latin legend running along the rim carries the king's personal motto, with the date of issue and the mintmaster's initials (H.C.M.) concluding the inscription. |
