Reverse description A crowned, inverted pear-shaped heraldic shield divided into three sections bearing the arms of Denmark (three lions passant on semée of hearts), Norway (lion rampant with axe), and the Kalmar Union (three crowns), positioned centrally in the field. Below the shield rests a small ornamental lined cross. The shield is encircled by the collar and pendant of the Order of the Elephant, Denmark's highest order of chivalry, with the collar tied to the shield's border. A Latin legend running along the rim carries the king's personal motto, with the date of issue and the mintmaster's initials (H.C.M.) concluding the inscription.
