Obverse description A plain cross with a quatrefoil at its center divides the field into four quadrants, each containing a single Gothic letter. The letters A, D, L, and F are distributed one per quadrant, reading clockwise, forming an abbreviation of the ruler's name. The cross extends nearly to the irregular coin edge, with no border or legend. The hammered fabric imparts a characteristic uneven surface to the flan.
