Reverse description A crowned shield bearing the Three Crowns of Sweden, surmounted by the royal crown and overlaid by a long-armed cross whose limbs extend to the coin's periphery, dividing the circumferential legend into four segments. The date 1523 appears at the conclusion of the legend. The cross terminates at the legend circle, giving the design a bold architectural quality typical of early Vasa-era coinage from the Uppsala mint.
