| Obverse description | Two standing figures face one another in full length: at left, the Doge Giovanni Soranzo in ducal robes and corno ducale, holding a long standard or vexillum; at right, the patron saint St. Mark in episcopal vestments with nimbus, presenting the banner to the Doge. The legend flanks the scene in the field and along the inner border, inscribed in Gothic characters. The composition reflects the established Venetian grosso type introduced under Doge Enrico Dandolo, rendered in a bold, high-relief hammered style characteristic of early 14th-century Venetian coinage. |

| Reverse description | Facing bust of Christ Pantocrator enthroned, nimbate with a cruciform halo, robed in imperial Byzantine manner, right hand raised in benediction and left hand holding the Gospels. The Christogram IC XC is inscribed in the field to the left and right of the figure respectively. The design follows the Byzantine iconographic tradition standard to the Venetian matapan and grosso series, rendered in a formal, hieratic style with strong relief on a plain field. |
