| Reverse description | The large numeral '1' dominates the center of the field in a bold, sans-serif typeface. Below, the denomination legend GROSCHEN is inscribed in capital letters, and the date of issue appears in the lower exergual area. The composition is stark and unadorned, reflecting the utilitarian aesthetic of the Austrian First Republic's small-denomination coinage. |

| Additional information |
Austria's First Republic introduced this denomination as part of the 1924 currency reform that replaced the catastrophically inflated Krone with the Schilling at a rate of 10,000 to one. The Groschen denominations bore the brunt of everyday small commerce throughout the interwar period, and these bronzes circulated heavily in a country perpetually on the edge of economic collapse.
Production continued until the Anschluss of March 1938, when Austrian monetary identity was absorbed into the Reichsmark system and the series abruptly ceased.
