背面描述 Two standing apostolic figures in full-length facing poses occupy the reverse field: Saint Paul on the left, holding a sword and book, and Saint Peter on the right, holding keys and a book. A mintmaster's symbol is placed between the two figures at their feet. The saints are rendered in a hieratic, elongated style characteristic of Italian Renaissance papal coinage. A continuous Latin legend, punctuated by stops and pellets, circles the periphery and identifies the saints along with a reference to the March of Ancona, confirming the Macerata mint attribution.

附加信息

Julius II — Giuliano della Rovere — spent much of his papacy commanding armies in person, and the giulio itself was his creation: a denomination he introduced expressly to fund his campaigns to reclaim the Papal States from the petty lords who had carved them up during Alexander VI's pontificate. The coin's name derives from his own given name, a deliberate piece of self-promotion embedded in the currency supply.

The decagonal shield reverse places this among the MIR 600/2 subtype, distinguished from the round-shield variant catalogued nearby. Die alignment inconsistencies are frequently noted across CNI XIII specimens, a predictable consequence of the Apostolic Camera's workshop practices under sustained military expenditure.
