Reverse description A plain Greek cross with slightly splayed arms occupies the center of the design, set within a cusped four-lobed (quadrilobe) frame, each lobe decorated with trefoil and rosette ornaments at the cusps, consistent with the Gothic decorative vocabulary employed throughout this series. A beaded inner border separates the central device from the outer legend, which runs around the full circumference of the coin. The flan is irregular in outline, as is typical of hammered medieval gold coinage.
