| Beschrijving voorzijde | Ochre-toned note with an elaborate Art Nouveau guilloche border incorporating foliate scrollwork, grape clusters, and acanthus ornaments. A central oval vignette presents a female allegorical bust in three-quarter profile, flanked by ribbon cartouches inscribed with the arrondissements of Nîmes and surrounding districts. | Opmerkingen |
The Chambres de Commerce emergency issues of the early 1920s tend to blur together, but the Nîmes series has a specific local character worth noting. Achiardi was a regional printer, not one of the large specialist security houses, which partly explains the relatively modest production quality seen across this series. The watermark — present but not elaborate — was often the only meaningful security feature on provincial nécessité issues of this period, most of which circulated heavily in local retail trade while coin shortages persisted well beyond the armistice.
JP#92-18/19 distinguishes two numbering variants within this type.
