Obverse description The papal arms of Alexander VI, comprising a quartered shield bearing the Borgia bull passant in base, surmounted by the papal tiara and crossed keys, all set within an oval cartouche supported by two angels in the field. The composition is rendered in the bold, high-relief style characteristic of late 15th-century Roman hammered coinage. A beaded inner border frames the design, with the circumferential Latin legend distributed around the periphery of the flan.
