| Reverse description | Central field displays a detailed architectural view of the city gate or fortified towers of Riga, rendered in a stylized medieval manner with arched gateways and battlements. Above the city view appears a crossed-keys device, the arms of Riga, surmounting the architectural composition. A beaded inner circle surrounds the central device, with the Latin legend MONE · NOVA · RIG`S `33 distributed around the periphery, denoting this as a new coin of Riga struck in 1533. The irregular flan and bold relief are consistent with hammered silver coinage of the period. |
