Obverse description Quarter-circle segment comprising the upper-left portion of a hammered silver penny, cut to serve as a farthing. The visible field retains the centre-left section of the crowned, facing royal effigy of Henry III, with the top of the sceptre discernible to the left. A partial Latin legend runs along the curved outer edge of the fragment, forming the corresponding arc of the original coin's circumscription. The portrait is rendered in the flat, schematic style characteristic of Short Cross coinage, with a beaded inner circle bordering the design.

Obverse lettering Һ[ЄNRICVS R]ЄX
