| 裏面の説明 | Hammered field bearing a multi-line Arabic inscription in bold Naskh script, identifying the sultan by his patronymic and title. The legend names Ahmad Shah as son of Mahmud Shah al-Sultan, accompanied by the Hijri regnal year 967 rendered in Arabic-Indic numerals in the lower portion of the field. The lettering is boldly raised in relief, with the strokes exhibiting the broad, somewhat angular character typical of Gujarati sultanate copper issues. The flan is slightly irregular and the field shows areas of green patination consistent with long-term copper oxidation. |

Ahmad III ruled Gujarat for just seven years under effectively Mughal suzerainty — Humayun had retaken Delhi in 1555, and the Mughal pressure on the Sultanate's northern borders defined the entire economic climate of his reign. Copper falus from this period circulated in a market already absorbing disruption from Portuguese control of the western coastal trade, particularly through Diu, seized in 1535.
Gujarat's copper coinage of the mid-sixteenth century is routinely underrepresented in major collections, partly because the sultanate collapsed entirely in 1572 when Akbar annexed it.
