Obverse description A lion passant to the right, depicted in a stylized manner, biting the tail of a dragon coiled around its body; the dragon simultaneously attacks the lion at mid-back. The composition fills the central field and is executed in a crude, provincial hammered style typical of late Iranian local issues. The design is rendered in low relief with uneven strike characteristic of small copper fals coinage.
