| Obverse description | The obverse features a detailed frontal view of the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, a celebrated UNESCO World Heritage Site and major pilgrimage destination in Galicia, Spain. The Baroque façade of the Obradoiro, with its twin towers and ornate central portal, dominates the central field in fine relief. Twelve five-pointed stars, representing the member states of the European Union, encircle the upper portion of the design along the rim. The legend ESPAÑA appears to the left in an arc, and the date of issue is positioned to the upper right of the cathedral. The Madrid Mint mark (M crowned) appears to the right of the date. |
