Obverse description Saint Mark standing at left, nimbed and robed, presents a long staff surmounted by a cross to the kneeling Doge at right, who receives it with both hands in a gesture of investiture. The word DVX appears vertically in the field between the two figures. The circular legend naming the Doge runs along the outer border of the flan. The composition follows the standard Venetian ducat typology established in 1284, rendered in low relief with fine Gothic stylization.
