| Obverse description | Central field displays the papal coat of arms of Eugene IV — a shield charged with a diagonal band — surmounted by the papal tiara and crossed keys, all rendered in bold relief characteristic of mid-fifteenth-century Roman die-cutting. The device is enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The surrounding peripheral legend, read in uncial Gothic lettering, bears the papal titulature of the pontiff. The flan is irregularly shaped, as typical of hammered gold coinage of this period, with a slightly uneven fabric. |

| Obverse lettering | EVGENIVS PP QVARTVS (Translation: Eugene the Fourth Pontiff of Pontiffs) |
| Reverse description | Full-length frontal figure of Saint Peter, nimbed and draped in flowing robes, standing facing, raising his right hand in benediction and holding the keys of heaven in his left hand. The boldly modeled figure occupies the central field within a beaded inner border, in the manner of the Venetine-influenced papal ducat tradition. The surrounding legend in uncial Gothic lettering identifies the saint and the issuing city of Rome. The hammered flan exhibits the characteristic irregular outline and slightly uneven surface of medieval papal gold coinage. |
