Obverse description Bare-headed effigy of King Oscar I facing right, rendered in high relief with finely detailed wavy hair and a small goatee beard, the truncation tapering sharply at the lower field. The portrait, known as the 'small head' type, is set within a plain field with ample space between the bust and the encircling legend. A continuous Latin inscription runs around the rim, separated from the toothed border by a narrow flat margin. The overall style reflects the neoclassical portraiture conventions of mid-19th century Swedish royal coinage.
